Wrought Iron Fence Repair in Austin, TX
Restore the fence you have, not replace it.
Sun, heat and rock: what Austin does to iron
Central Texas sun bakes the finish off iron faster than most places, and once the paint cracks and chalks, rust gets underneath. Out in the Hill Country, rocky ground makes posts hard to set and easy to knock out of line. Most of that is fixable without replacing the fence. We cut out the rusted sections, weld in new metal, reset leaning posts and paint the fence by hand, for a fraction of the cost of new. Call or text our Austin line at (512) 729-1560.
What we see most in Austin
Sun-baked finishes, rocky ground and established ironwork worth keeping.
Faded, chalky paint
Years of sun break the finish down until it cracks and lets moisture reach the metal.
Rust at the base
Pickets and posts sitting in soil, mulch or sprinkler spray rust from the bottom up first.
Leaning posts
Rocky Hill Country ground and shifting clay push posts out of line. We pull and reset them.
Sagging gates
Gates that drag, will not latch or need a shove to close. Usually a hinge, a weld or a post that has moved.
Pool fencing
A pool gate that does not latch is a safety problem. We make sure every gate closes and catches.
Older ironwork
Established neighborhoods like Travis Heights, Hyde Park and Clarksville have ironwork worth restoring rather than replacing.
See the difference
The same fence before and after — scraped back to sound metal, welded where needed, and finished by hand.
Why repair makes sense in Austin
Most iron fences fail at the coating and the bottom few inches, not throughout. Cutting out the bad metal and refinishing the run costs a fraction of replacement, and you keep the fence’s original design.

How we repair a wrought iron fence
Prep
The crew works the whole run first, scraping away every bit of flaking and failing paint back to sound metal. On older ironwork this is most of the job, and it is done by hand where the detail is fine.
Metal work
Where a section has rusted through or broken, we cut out the bad metal and weld in new to match. Old welds that have separated get rewelded.
Gates
Every gate works properly when we leave. Realigned, rehung, rewelded, latch rebuilt — whatever it takes.
Paint
Everything is painted by hand with oil-based Rust-Oleum containing a rust inhibitor. Painting by hand reaches into scrollwork and weld seams that a sprayer skips.
Walkthrough
Before the crew leaves, they walk the fence with you. If something is not right, it gets put right while they are still on site.

Iron fence repair in Austin — common questions
Do you serve the Austin suburbs?
Yes: Round Rock, Cedar Park, Georgetown, Pflugerville, Leander, Lakeway, Bee Cave, Dripping Springs and the surrounding area.
My posts are set in rock. Can you still reset them?
Yes. Rocky ground takes more work, but leaning posts can be pulled and reset solidly so the fence runs straight again.
Why does the paint on my fence fade and peel so fast?
Strong sun breaks down the finish over time. Once it cracks, moisture reaches the metal and rust starts underneath. Scraping back to sound metal and repainting stops it.
Can you match my existing fence?
Yes. We weld new metal into the existing run and paint it to match, so the repair blends with the rest of the fence.
Do you paint the fence too?
Yes. We scrape back to sound metal and paint by hand with oil-based Rust-Oleum with a rust inhibitor. Never sprayed.
Do you fix gates?
Yes. Every gate works properly before the crew leaves: rehung, realigned or rewelded, and latching as it should.
How much does it cost?
A fraction of replacement. Full fence restoration averages about $8 to $12 per linear foot, depending on how much metal has to be cut out, how many posts are involved and the length of the run. Gate work and spot repairs are quoted separately. Estimates are free.
Is the work guaranteed?
Our welds are guaranteed, and every completed job includes one free touch-up within the first year.
