Wrought Iron Fence Repair in Dallas, TX
Older ironwork is worth saving.
Dallas has ironwork that cannot be bought anymore
East Dallas, Lakewood, the M Streets, Swiss Avenue, Munger Place, Kessler Park — these neighbourhoods carry ornamental iron that went up decades ago, and a lot of it was made better than anything sold today. Heavier stock, hand-worked scroll, details nobody mass-produces now.
When that iron rusts, an installer will quote you a replacement in modern picket. It will not match, and it will not be the same fence. We repair the one you have.
Period ironwork in East Dallas is worth saving. Our wrought iron fence repair work puts old metal back into service rather than scrapping it.

Older Dallas homes often need iron railing repair on the front steps as well as fence work.
What we see most on Dallas properties
Older ironwork fails differently from new fencing, and it needs a different approach.
Decades of paint
Layer on layer of old coatings, often sprayed thin over material that was already lifting. All of it has to come off before anything new goes on.
Rust at the base
Pickets and bottom rails sitting against soil or mulch rust from the ground up. It is usually the first place metal goes right through.
Original ornamental detail
Scrollwork, finials and hand-worked sections that cannot be bought off a shelf. These get saved, not swapped.
Historic district rules
Conservation and historic districts limit what you can change. Repairing the existing fence sidesteps most of that.
Failed old welds
Joints that have been carrying load for fifty years eventually separate. They get rewelded rather than replaced.
Tight access
Narrow side yards, mature planting and close-set houses. Work happens on site, in place, without tearing out landscaping.
See the difference
Scraped back to sound metal, welded where needed, and hand-finished so the original design stays intact.
Why repair beats replacement on older Dallas homes
On a property where the ironwork is part of the character of the house, replacement is a loss even when it is done well. New ornamental fencing does not match old work, and on a historic street the difference shows.
Repair keeps the fence. Rust gets cut out and new metal welded in, the run is prepped properly, and the whole thing is hand-painted so it reads as one fence rather than a patch. It also costs a fraction of a tear-out.

How we repair a wrought iron fence
Prep
On older fences this is most of the job. Every layer of failing paint comes off back to sound metal, by hand where the detail is too fine for anything else.
Metal work
Rusted-through sections are cut out and new metal welded in to match. Old welds that have separated get rewelded. Leaning posts are pulled and reset.
Gates
Every gate works properly when we leave. Realigned, rehung, rewelded, latch rebuilt — whatever it takes.
Paint
Hand-brushed oil-based Rust-Oleum with a rust inhibitor. Brushing reaches into scrollwork and weld seams that a sprayer skips, and lays down thick enough to hold.
Walkthrough
Before the crew leaves, they walk the fence with you. If something is not right, it gets put right while they are still on site.

Iron fence repair in Dallas — common questions
Can you repair old ornamental ironwork rather than replace it?
That is most of what we do. Rusted metal is cut out and new welded in, the original scrollwork and detail stay, and the whole run is hand-finished so it reads as one fence.
My fence is in a historic district. Does that complicate things?
It usually makes repair the easier route. Repairing what is already there avoids most of the questions that come with putting up something new.
There are decades of old paint on it. Is that a problem?
It is work, not a problem. All of the failing material has to come off back to sound metal first. Paint over old lifting coatings and the new finish goes the same way within a season.
The bottom of the pickets have rusted through. Can that be fixed?
Yes, and it is one of the most common repairs we do. The bad metal is cut out and new welded in at the base.
Which parts of Dallas do you cover?
East Dallas, Lakewood, the M Streets, Swiss Avenue, Munger Place, Kessler Park and the surrounding neighbourhoods, along with the eastern suburbs out toward Rockwall.
Do you have to dig up my landscaping?
No. The work happens in place. Posts that need resetting are handled individually rather than by tearing out a whole run.
How much does it cost?
A fraction of replacement. It depends on how much metal has to be cut out, how many posts are involved and the length of the run. Estimates are free.
Is the work guaranteed?
Our welds are guaranteed, and every completed job includes one free touch-up within the first year.
